Chris Wood is Co-Founder and Co-President of Moonshot Compost, a Houston-based startup that collects and consolidates food waste for composting. Moonshot has helped its subscribers across the Texas triangle to divert over 7 million pounds of food waste from the landfill in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Waco, Texas.
Before retiring from the practice of law, Chris served as a corporate attorney in Houston, Texas, with a focus on securities law, M&A, and corporate governance. From 2002 to 2019, Chris practiced at two large, international law firms and three energy companies headquartered in Houston, Texas. With his roots in the energy sector, Chris is proud today to be working with others on problems related specifically to waste diversion and the energy transition more broadly.
Chris is a native Houstonian, with brief stints away for college at the University of Virginia (B.A. in Political & Social Thought, Class of 1998) and the University of Texas School of Law (J.D. 2002). Chris is a True Advisor, certified through the GBCI. Chris also serves as a director and secretary to the Board of the Texas state chapter of the USCC; as member of the Solid Waste Management Committee of the Houston-Galveston Area Council; and a member of the Sustainability Committee of the 2026 World Cup.
Chris and his wife Debbie Yee, a practicing corporate attorney, have two children, Harper (7) and Sawyer (5). They enjoy traveling with their kids, as often as humanly possible. Prior to having children, Chris also enjoyed running, playing basketball, reading for pleasure and live music.
